Anchored by a $25,000 paddle raise challenge match, the Home Builders Foundation raised a record $314,000 on Saturday, April 18 at its annual Building Hope Gala & Auction. The match, $10,000 of which came from long-time HBF supporters Directors Mortgage, propelled the paddle raise to a new record of $105,000. The match’s remaining $15,000 came from an anonymous donor.

“We are so grateful to have the support of industry leaders such as Milgard Windows & Doors, as well as many other generous donors who allow us to use these funds to improve the lives of those experiencing homelessness,” explains Ken Cowdery, Executive Director of the Home Builders Foundation. “We were also lucky to have Don Morissette of Stone Bridge Homes NW as our Honorary Chair for this year’s event.”

BerkshireLadieswebFunds raised at this event will go towards building and renovating homeless and transitional housing facilities in the metro Portland area. Projects slated for this year include lead abatement at a family shelter in Newberg, an expansion of a homeless women’s shelter in downtown Portland and continuing energy retrofits of existing homeless shelters.

The Home Builders Foundation would like to extend its gratitude to its event sponsors, table sponsors, donors and volunteers.
