Building Hope Gala & Auction raises $270,000 for shelter projects

www.ykvision.comThe Milgard Windows and Doors Building Hope Gala & Auction, presented by Directors Mortgage raised $270,000 on April 9th to benefit the Home Builders Foundation and its mission to build safe, dignified shelter for those experiencing homelessness throughout the Portland metro region.

“We are so very grateful to Milgard Windows and Doors, Directors Mortgage and our Honorary Chairperson Bill Gander, current owner and President of Standard TV and Appliance, for an outstanding evening.” explains Ken Cowdery, HBF Executive Director. “We also want thank our generous donors, our fantastic event and table sponsors, and our terrific volunteers. We are going to help so many people in our community because of the outstanding support we received that night.”

Over 80 companies and individuals donated auction items including luxurious trips, tickets to fantastic sports and concert events, incredible wine packages, and other truly unique items and experiences. The gala’s always popular NW Natural Dessert Dash, featuring twelve delicious gourmet cakes from the area’s award winning bakeries, raised a record $12,000.

www.ykvision.comTable sponsors included the Behunin Family, Caliber Home Loans, Delap LLP, Fidelity National Title, Lanphere Construction and Development, Medallion Industries, New Home Realty, Pacific Crest Cabinets, Parr Lumber, PrimeLending, ProBuild, Renaissance Homes, Rodda Paint, Shelter Solutions LLC, The Management Trust – Northwest, Terra Firma, Tiffany Home Design, and Zepak Corporation.

A highlight of the evening was a video presentation featuring Community of Hope, a current Home Builders Foundation shelter renovation project in the St. Johns neighborhood of Portland. The shelter for homeless women and their children was encountering exorbitant development fees until the Foundation stepped in to get many of them waived or reduced. “Development fees effect all kinds of housing from homeless shelters to million dollar homes.” explains Ken Cowdery. “We wanted that story told.”

Home Builders Foundation would also like to thank its event sponsors that made this incredible event possible – THANK YOU!
