HBF welcomes two new Board Members & a new Officer in 2018

Home Builders Foundation (HBF) was thrilled to welcome two new board members in January. Brian has been an active member of the Home Builders Association for nearly 15 years and is currently serving as Immediate Past President. During his time as an Officer, he has remained an active member of both the Professional Remodelers Organization and Portland Builders and Urban Development Council. In 2015, he participated in the NW Natural Street of Dreams®, where his home “Joie de Vivre,” won 17 of the 21 awards. Brian’s company, Brian Schmidt Builder, is known for high-performance homes integrating high-end architecture and design alongside an exceptional client experience. Brian is also a partner in Lightbox Portland, a high-density, high-performance building and development company.

Scott Ericson, is co-founder of Wheelhouse 20/20, a business development company built on the philosophy that sales and marketing should not operate in silos. Scott graduated from the University of Oregon and received his MBA from George Fox University School of Business Management. Prior to starting Wheelhouse 20/20, Scott worked for many years with Parr Lumber Company and served on Parr’s Executive Leadership Team, the Acquisition and Expansion Team, as well as a Board member for the Home Builders Association, Chairman of the Political Action Committee for the Building Industry Association, and several others.

Owner of California Closets of Portland, Darci Fredricks eagerly joined the HBF in 2015 after learning of the organizations mission to improve shelters and the services they provide for families. She and her team saw a clear gap in organized storage spaces for both the staff at shelters and the residents. Darci has worked with California Closets for 15 years and in 2014 jumped at the opportunity to purchase the Portland location because of the great similarities between Portland and her home town of Minneapolis, MN. Understanding that business owners have a great responsibility to improve the communities in which they live, Darci has grown her business to be able to invest more in local workers and to participate with non-profits like HBF and Dress for Success of Oregon.  Recently married, Darci, her husband Bill, and their dog Stella love to take advantage of hikes in the gorge, exceptional local wineries, and day trips to Bend.

Home Builders Foundation would also like to thank its returning Board members and Officers for their continued dedication and service to HBF’s mission of helping those experiencing homelessness in our community.
