HBF TRAP SHOOT PRESENTED BY PARR LUMBER HITS NEW RECORD FOR A MILESTONE YEAR

The 15th Annual Trap Shoot, presented by Parr Lumber and benefiting Home Builders Foundation (HBF), was the biggest yet. Held on Friday, September 13, this year’s shooting competition drew over 70 teams to the Portland Gun Club – the biggest crowd yet to attend the event!

As the early morning showers began to slow and shooters were going through the process of registration, Divine 9 served up a hearty and delicious breakfast, shooters started waking up with complimentary lattés thanks to Westside Drywall, and Cascade Windows provided some practice rounds for shooters to get warmed up for the competition ahead.  Throughout the day the teams took their best shot at taking home the trophy, but it was Riggs Construction that came to win, and they did just that, taking home the 1st Place Gold Medal followed by Merten & Son’s Landscaping in 2nd place and Stratford Gate Systems in 3rd place.

Shooting veteran Lauren Plagman took home the trophy in the women’s only round of the Builders Capital Annie Oakley Competition for her third time. Sam Cairns, Mike Knight, and Robert Rayson were the top three shooters, respectively, in the mixed round of the Builders Capital Annie Oakley Competition, which had over 75 shooters competing for the trophy.

Throughout the event, shooters stayed hydrated with an assortment of beverages provided by the Richmond American Homes Hydration Stations, and shooters’ appetites were fed by a BBQ lunch from Slick’s Big Time BBQ thanks to Taiga Exterior Wood.  Between rounds, shooters had plenty to do around the event. This year, Fireside Home Solutions opened a VIP Lounge for shooters to hang out in with plush outdoor furniture and fire tables, which shooters could then purchase in the silent auction.  Shooters could compete against each other in games of cornhole thanks to Montgomery & Graham, and get their team photo taken in our new life-sized photo frame photo booth thanks to Lennar and Turbo Painting.  Shooters were also able to enter a raffle for a Benelli Ethos shotgun thanks to Oregon Truss and Mike Snyder of Benelli.  After the competition ended, shooters enjoyed a cold adult beverage courtesy of James Hardie at the James Hardie After Party.

Home Builders Foundation is proud to announce that the event made over $115,000!  Funds raised at this event will support HBF’s mission to build and renovate shelters for those experiencing homelessness throughout the Portland metro area, as well as support HBF’s workforce development efforts.
