Home Builders Foundation paints the town with annual charity service day
The Home Builders Foundation completed their fourth annual Painting a Better Tomorrow volunteer blitz program, handling fixes large and small at area shelters.WHO: Nearly 100 volunteer industry professionalsWHAT: Interior and exterior paint projects, landscaping and light carpentry workWHEN: November 7, 2009WHERE: 4 shelters located throughout the Portland MetroSponsored by Miller Paint and Rodda Paint, this annual work day is a growing charity event for the home building community. Volunteers – who include builders and subcontractors as well as bankers, brokers and other industry professionals – assemble in teams to handle leaky roofs, worn staircases and painting projects for the area’s shelters.“The various shelters in Portland provide a critical save haven for families trying to get back on their feet,” said Foundation Director Mel Duncan. “They serve mostly women and children made homeless by domestic violence or other life-altering events, and they operate on very limited budgets. Many of the operations are in need of the kind of repairs that make a temporary stay feel more like home.“This service event is one way the home building community does what it does best for a great cause. It is entirely fueled by donated materials, time and heartfelt community caring.”This year, Painting a Better Tomorrow includes 100 volunteers (10 teams) working at 4 shelters around the Portland metropolitan area.
