HBF announces new scholarship at NWCOC

Home Builders Foundation announced this week that it will offer one deserving student a $2,500 scholarship for the new residential carpentry program to be offered at Northwest College of Construction (NWCOC) for the first time this fall. This program is aimed to train students for a career in the residential home building industry.“We’ve heard from countless members of the Home Builders Association of Metro Portland that the lack of skilled, trained workers is approaching a critical level,” explains Ken Cowdery, executive director of Home Builders Foundation. “This new program offered by NWCOC will help builders meet growing demand.”Home Builders Foundation will also honor retiring NWCOC CEO, Dan Graham, by naming the scholarship in his honor.“Dan’s nine years of wisdom and guidance has truly transformed NWCOC, and we are excited to recognize his contributions with this scholarship,” says Cowdery. For more information on the residential carpentry program or to apply for this scholarship, please visit www.nwcoc.com.
