Home Builders Foundation breaks ground on shelter expansion in Tigard to benefit children

In partnership with Good Neighbor Center, Home Builders Foundation broke ground on a project to expand their Children’s Program. Good Neighbor Center has been providing emergency shelter and empowering services to homeless families since 2000. The expansion will add much needed space for the After School program that provides homework help, tutoring and fun activities as well as a Summer School program which offers children the opportunity to grow, learn, and play together in a supportive, enriching environment.  The renovation will be led by HBF Builder Captain Robert Wood of Mountainwood Homes LLC.Good Neighbor Center (GNC), located on SW Greenburg Rd, is a 36-bed facility serving up to 9 families at a time. Each family has a private room where they can live for up to six weeks and receive three meals a day. GNC is supported by over 1,400 volunteers that cook, babysit, do service projects and serve as overnight hosts.Jack Schwab, GNC Executive Director, is thrilled to be breaking ground on this small project that will make a huge difference for the children in the shelter.
