HBF TRAP SHOOT PRESENTED BY PARR LUMBER HITS NEW RECORD FOR A MILESTONE YEAR
The 15thAnnual Trap Shoot, presented by Parr Lumber and benefiting Home BuildersFoundation (HBF), was the biggest yet. Held on Friday, September 13, thisyear’s shooting competition drew over 70 teams to the Portland Gun Club – thebiggest crowd yet to attend the event!
As the earlymorning showers began to slow and shooters were going through the process of registration,Divine 9 served up a hearty and delicious breakfast, shooters started waking upwith complimentary lattés thanks to Westside Drywall, and Cascade Windowsprovided some practice rounds for shooters to get warmed up for the competitionahead. Throughout the day the teams tooktheir best shot at taking home the trophy, but it was Riggs Construction thatcame to win, and they did just that, taking home the 1st Place GoldMedal followed by Merten & Son’s Landscaping in 2nd place and StratfordGate Systems in 3rd place.
Shootingveteran Lauren Plagman took home the trophy in the women’s only round of the BuildersCapital Annie Oakley Competition for her third time. Sam Cairns, Mike Knight,and Robert Rayson were the top three shooters, respectively, in the mixed roundof the Builders Capital Annie Oakley Competition, which had over 75 shooters competingfor the trophy.
Throughoutthe event, shooters stayed hydrated with an assortment of beverages provided bythe Richmond American Homes Hydration Stations, and shooters’ appetites were fedby a BBQ lunch from Slick’s Big Time BBQ thanks to Taiga Exterior Wood. Between rounds, shooters had plenty to do aroundthe event. This year, Fireside Home Solutions opened a VIP Lounge for shootersto hang out in with plush outdoor furniture and fire tables, which shooterscould then purchase in the silent auction. Shooters could compete against each other ingames of cornhole thanks to Montgomery & Graham, and get their team phototaken in our new life-sized photo frame photo booth thanks to Lennar and TurboPainting. Shooters were also able toenter a raffle for a Benelli Ethos shotgun thanks to Oregon Truss and MikeSnyder of Benelli. After the competitionended, shooters enjoyed a cold adult beverage courtesy of James Hardie at theJames Hardie After Party.
Home Builders Foundation is proud to announce that the event made over $115,000! Funds raised at this event will support HBF’s mission to build and renovate shelters for those experiencing homelessness throughout the Portland metro area, as well as support HBF’s workforce development efforts.
