Introducing 2022 Building Hope Gala and Auction Honorary Chair: Chip Wallace

Honorary Chair Chip Wallace

The 25th Building Hope Gala and Auction presented by California Closets will be led by Honorary Chair Chip Wallace, the Vice President and Co-Owner of Standard TV & Appliance. Chip tells us he was honored when 2021 Chair Gordon Root asked him to spearhead HBF’s biggest fundraiser of the year. “I agreed because it is an exceptional cause to help people in their time of need…Everyone deserves a home".

Chip’s involvement with HBF is fairly new, but there is a long legacy of support for HBF and Home Builders Association from Standard TV & Appliance. Chip became one of three owners of Standard TV and Appliance in 2019, joining advertising veteran Barbara Bradshaw and former Standard Sales Director Jeff Jarvis, who is the company’s president. Founded by Clement and Hazel Gander as Standard Refrigeration in 1947, their son Bill Gander began managing the company in 1972, and owned it from 1981 until it was sold.

Chip is an Oregon native, and is also the owner of Capital Credit & Collection Service. Chip worked in the credit and collection field for over 30 years, interacting with hundreds of Oregon businesses, as well as local, state and federal government officials. A graduate of Beaverton’s Sunset High, he graduated from the University of Oregon in 1988 with a degree in Political Science and Economics. Chip and Tammy, his wife of 32 years, raised two daughters, Alexis and Bridgette Wallace.

Chip brings high energy and a wide range of interests to his new role. He was a Golden Gloves boxer for four years out of college. He competed in Scottish Highland games for 16 years, winning many Caber Championships, and held Hammer records, ranking 4th in the country. He even competed in Scotland, beating the Scottish national Champion in the Caber and Hammer. He’s also competed in world Strongman competitions. Chip’s more low-key exercise is golf.

Chip is an avid traveler, and tells us he purchased a package to his favorite place, Tuscany, during our 2021 Gala. Chip’s other favorite travel destinations include France, Italy, Spain, Scotland, and England. We hope to see his paddle raised high with all of yours during the 2022 Gala as well.

Chip looks forward to touring some of our shelter projects to inspire him for his important position, which raises money so HBF and our builder supporters can improve and build shelter for houseless Oregonians. Chip has the honor of chairing our 25th Anniversary Gala, and we are sure our guests to Tumwater Vineyards June 11 are in for a treat.  Here are his goals for the event; "Well, a great time, to raise more money than ever before and change people lives for the better!"
