New Leader for HBF
Home Building Foundation is pleased to introduce Regan Schutz, its new Executive Director. HBA Chief Executive Officer Dave Nielsen says “Regan brings a deep passion for community-building and a wealth of experience in values-driven leadership, strategic governance, community engagement, fundraising, and volunteer coordination.” Nielsen anticipates Schutz will provide visionary leadership for HBF’s mission to improve housing for people experiencing homelessness, and to advance career opportunities in construction.
Schutz comes to HBF following a distinguished career leading nonprofit organizations through growth and transformation. A Hillsboro native, Schutz is happily returning to the Portland area after more than a decade living around the country in New York, Tennessee, and California.
A graduate of Jesuit High School, Schutz attended the University of Colorado for her BA and went on to earn Master’s and Doctorate degrees from The University of the South. Most recently, Schutz received advanced certifications in project management and leadership from Cornell University.
“I’m so impressed with HBF’s dedication and drive, and I’m beyond excited to join an organization that is actively--and successfully—making the world a better place. It’s a real honor to bring my experience home to Oregon to serve the community that shaped me!”
Schutz succeeds 13-year HBF veteran Brenda Ketah. Ketah has taken a new role as Chief Affiliate Officer for HomeAid America. She will be based in Portland and will remain involved in the work of HBF, a HomeAid affiliate.
