A Team Effort
On November 10th the Home Builders Foundation hosted their one day volunteer blitz to help clean up, paint and perform minor repairs onPortland area non-profit agency buildings serving the homeless. Teams of volunteers from Bank of America, Lawyers Title, Legend Homes, Lakeside Lumber, Alpha Phi Alpha, Washington Federal, Sussman Shank LLP, Miller Paint and Rodda Paint spent a day giving back to the community.Now in its seventh year, Painting a Better Tomorrow is a joint effort of the home building community and the generosity of sponsors: Miller Paint, Rodda Paint, Bank of the West, Amy Roloff Charity Foundation, NW Natural and the Randall Charitable Trust.“Painting a Better Tomorrow brightens the lives of shelter residents and demonstrates the commitment the HBA has to our community,” said Ken Cowdery, Executive Director of the HBF. The story generated some media buzz over the weekend and was covered by KGW and KOIN.This year, teams helped paint and improve Janus Youth’s-Imani House, Bradley Angle’s Domestic Violence Emergency Shelter, Catholic Charities’KateriParkand Transition Projects’ Jean’s Place.
