Harvest House ribbon-cutting event in Newberg

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Home Builders Foundation dedicates second project in Yamhill CountyHarvest House receives a much needed exterior renovation to address lead paint issueJuly 23, 2015 (Portland) - The ribbon cutting ceremony for the newly renovated Harvest House shelter was held on July 22nd   and is a steady reminder of the strong community partnerships that are critical in solving local challenges.  Harvest House recently received some much-needed and long-anticipated renovations from the Home Builders Foundation (HBF).  HBF, the nonprofit arm of the Home Builders Association of Metro Portland, secured donations from the following local contractors and suppliers to complete the renovation:  Benjamin Obdyke, International Wood Products, James Hardie, Lakeside Lumber, Masco Corporation Foundation, Milgard Windows & Doors, Parr, ProBuild, Sherwin Williams, Washington Federal, and Woodcrafters.  Local company, Water Bear Restoration served as the HBF Builder Captain to oversee the renovation project and provided solutions on resolving the lead-based paint concerns. In-kind material donations exceeded $18,000 and HBF negotiated labor costs.Representatives from HBF, Yamhill Community Action Program (YCAP), and local contractors all gathered together to celebrate this renovation based on collaboration. A welcoming, well-maintained residence makes a huge difference when people are in crisis and are yearning for a safe place to call home during a difficult transition.  On average, 4-5 families call Harvest House home while stabilizing and rebuilding their lives as part of the road to self-sufficiency.  Harvest House now is in a position to strengthen a family’s spirit in times of great transition for many years to come.  “Shelters struggle with maintenance issues due to limited grant funding so this is a true blessing and YCAP is very grateful to Home Builders Foundation and all the trade partners that made this renovation possible,” said Jeff Sargent, Executive Director of YCAP.DSC_0111resized DSC_0103resizedAbout Home Builders FoundationHome Builders Foundation, established in 1997, is the charity of choice for the Home Builders Association of Metropolitan Portland.
