Tim Breedlove concludes two year service as HBF Board President

Tim Breedlove, Chief Operating Officer of Renaissance Homes, will conclude his two years of service as HBF Board President this month, and the Foundation’s board members and staff want to offer their sincerest gratitude for a job well done.“It’s been a remarkable two years,” explains Ken Cowdery, HBF Executive Director, “Tim led us through a period of extraordinary growth.”During Tim’s tenure HBF completed nine major building and renovation projects that provide shelter to over 240 homeless adults, families with children, youth, and domestic violence survivors. It also completed its first projects in Yamhill County, launched a shelter energy retrofit and repair initiative, and created new scholarships for the NW College of Construction, among other accomplishments.The Foundation also raised more money than at any time in its 15 year history and enjoyed record attendance at its events. Revenue from the HBF Building Hope Gala and Auction, Trap Shoot and other events nearly doubled over the previous two years and, as a result, the Foundation was able to invest larger amounts of its own funds in the form of cash grants to get projects started. “HBF has committed more direct dollars to projects under Tim’s two years as President than it had collectively in the previous 15 years of its existence.” explains Home Builders Association Chief Executive Officer Dave Nielsen.Three of the Foundation’s largest projects currently under development were also initiated during Tim’s tenure. The biggest is a transitional living facility for youth at-risk of homelessness leaving Oregon’s foster care system. Tim signed Renaissance Homes on to be the builder captain of the project called New Meadows which is being developed by Bridge Meadows, a nonprofit intergenerational housing organization in North Portland. Bridge Meadows Executive Director Derenda Shubert explains, “With Tim’s thoughtful, caring and ‘let’s get this moving’ approach, we know the youth will have a beautiful, safe place to live. We are honored to have Tim as a partner who is committed to making the world a better place.”Tim’s results oriented approach is recognized by many associated with the HBF. The last two years have been so productive because as Past HBF President Roger Neu observes, “Tim has a presence about him that you admire. He is always to the point and wants things to get done. He has been a great leader of the Foundation.” Joe Robertson, owner of Shelter Solutions, LLC will be following Tim as Board President. “Tim has provided stellar leadership to the HBF with prudent guidance on financial issues. I really appreciate his service and will try my best to live up to the high bar he has set for this position.”As Tim looks back on the past two years he explains, “It has been an honor and my distinct pleasure to lead the Foundation during the past two years. However, my role was only a small part of the Foundation’s success. I truly appreciate the outstanding efforts of my fellow officers, board members, members of the HBA who have supported our projects and events, and especially our dedicated staff team, Ken, Brenda and Nicole.”
