HBF honored with Association Excellence Award for workforce development program

AlexCheeverThe Home Builders Foundation has been awarded a prestigious Association Excellence Award (AEA) from the National Association of Home Builders for its workforce development partnership with the Northwest College of Construction (NWCOC).In response to the need for residential construction workers, the HBF partnered with Home Builders Association of Metro Portland and the NWCOC to design a unique residential carpentry program that promises to bring skilled workers to the members of the Home Builders Association. This new training program, unique to the Portland area, is focused exclusively on getting more youth interested in residential construction and equip them with the basic skills needed to enter the home building workforce. Home Builders Foundation provided start-up support for this program, including providing advertising support for program enrollment as well as providing $9,000 worth of scholarship funds to deserving students of the program.For more information on the NWCOC's Residential Carpentry Program, click here.
