Painting a Better Tomorrow

Painting a Better Tomorrow began as a grass roots program in 2006, to fulfill the growing need of painting projects and simple building maintenance at local homeless shelters.  Our community outreach program culminates in a one-day volunteer blitz in the Fall. The Home Builders Foundation coordinates teams of volunteers from the home building community to paint, clean landscape and perform minor repairs to facilities owned or operated by nonprofit agencies serving the homeless in the greater Portland Metropolitan region.  In the past 10 years, more than 50 nonprofit agencies in the Portland area have received much needed maintenance and mini-makeovers courtesy of dedicated volunteers and businesses.

“Thank you for coming and painting our building.  It was a huge help to have such a large, strong team making our space beautiful.  Every day as I walk in the building and see the warm colors down the hallway and walk by the beautiful rooms, I smile and am grateful for your hard work and the free paint.”  – Community of Hope Program Director

“Everybody can paint, but not everybody’s a painter. These men and women were painters!” – Union Gospel Mission Facility Coordinator

“We love this event and can’t wait for next year.”- Russ Israelov, Washington Federal

“It’s been an honor for us to work with the Home Builders Foundation for the last 10 years on Painting a Better Tomorrow. Miller Paint loves to give back to our community and this has been a perfect opportunity for us and our friends at Rodda Paint.” – Tim Doolittle, Regional Sales Manager, Miller Paint and long-time PBT volunteer

“Rodda is proud to support our communities in need and we have been strongly involved in Painting a Better Tomorrow program since its inception as it directly aligns with our passion- PAINT. Each year we provide not only paint product and supplies for non-profit service providers, but have formed teams to help in the painting, making people’s lives more colorful in the process.” – Lis Weller, Brand Manager Rodda Paint Co. and co-chair of PBT committee
